In February of this year our government’s monthly deficit went over $200 billion – for just that month- for the first time in history. That’s right – I said the deficit of one single month was over $200 billion. To put things in perspective, February’s $223 billion deficit was bigger than the total budget deficit for all of 2007! Below is a deficit chart, but let me warn you. If you have not seen this yet you may want to sit down and send the children out of the room.
President Obama’s use of deficit spending is terrifying. We are in trouble. Especially when you take into account that government always shells out far more of our money than they project. In fact, it is not really accurate to say the feds are spending “our money.” Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are actually dispersing our money plus the money of our children. When their spending is done, it will be higher than all other Presidents combined – including Bush!
It’s time for those on the Left to stop complaining that conservatives never got so mad about Bush’s deficits. As bad as Bush’s deficits were – Obama’s squandering our wealth makes Bush look like he was fiscally responsible. With GW the spending seemed like a bad idea, but one we could bounce back from, with Obama it feels like we’ve only just begun. We are passing our debt on to our children’s children and beyond. This administration’s irresponsibility now guarantees that we are making those that come behind us poor. Is there anyone (not on the government payroll) who really thinks this is a good idea?
It’s NewsReal Sunday, so it’s time to see what Scripture says about this topic.
A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children. Proverbs 13:22
No one can claim that what we are doing is good. We are leaving nothing but massive debt behind us.
The borrower is slave to the lender. – Proverbs 22:7
We are making our children slaves. That leaves us few choices:
1. Tax like never before. That is what we are beginning to see with the end of Bush tax cuts and the Value Added Tax – among other things. Tea Party people aren’t racist or stupid – they see what is coming.
2. Drastically cut spending. Where are the men and women in power even attempting to make this happen? I challenge you only vote for people this November who promise head spinning cuts in our government.
3. Ignore it and curse those that come behind us to poverty.
If anyone else has other options I’d be happy to hear them. But before you vote this November and especially in 2012, look at some kids faces. They don’t deserve this future our government has set before them.
And above all, in your righteous anger about debt, don’t forget to continue to treat those in the wrong with love and respect.
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. – Romans 13:8
